Marijuana Reduces Diabetes and Obesity
Smoking Marijuana Reduces Diabetes and Obesity
Research on the benefits of smoking marijuana has been conducted at the University of Nebraska, the Harvard School of Public Health and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. These select research teams have indicated that pot smokers are indeed thinner and maintain smaller waist sizes than their herb-free counterparts. Roughly 4,600 test subjects were apart of this survey.
Smoking Pot leads to Weight Loss
With frequent cannabis use, those who smoke take in a higher calorie consumption (on average 600 calories more consumed per day than non-smokers.) Yet somehow, this extra intake has no bearing on BMIs (Body Mass Index), and the fact is, people who smoke weed regularly show a reduced likelihood of obesity than those who do not smoke marijuana. With factors like age, gender, tobacco and alcohol use considered, reseachers found that 12 percent of subjects whom were current marijuana users had much smaller waist circumferences than non-smokers, better regulated insulin levels and higher levels of HDL (good cholesterol). 42 percent of the test subjects reported having smoked weed in the past, while their results weren’t as great as a current smoker, they also showed similar outcomes.
Cannabinoid Magic
Even though scientist don’t have all the answers as to why marijuana users have lower instances of obesity and diabetes, they do note that cannabis’ anti-inflammatory properties effects better metabolizing of carbohydrates and endocannabinoid benefits all contribute to these findings.
The Breakdown
“Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain; organs, glands, immune cells, and connective tissue. In each tissue, the cannabinoid system performs different tasks, but the goal is always the same, Homeostasis, which is the maintenance of a stable internal environment….Cannabinoids promote homeostasis at every level of biological life, from the sub-cellular, to the organism. These findings that have been found; case after case of marijuana subjecting indicates that medical marijuana advocacy will continue to grow. The hemp plant is so beneficial to the human existence.A low-dose cannabinoid regimen may be useful for a wide spectrum of people in conjunction with diet and lifestyle.
